The Fargo-Moohead RedHawks announce the return of “Hawkeye’s Bookworms” to area schools for the 2019-2020 school year. This marks the 15th year of the program, which has encouraged over 200,000 kids in North Dakota and Minnesota that reading can be fun and rewarding.

The goal of Hawkeye’s Bookworms is to encourage all students to read and meet program goals by rewarding them with prizes. Each participating classroom receives a Hawkeye’s Bookworms scorecard that tracks each student’s accomplishments by using aspects of baseball as different levels. Students are rewarded weekly when they reach each level over the course of four weeks.

This reading program is free to all area public and private schools (grades 1-6) and can be easily incorporated into current classroom schedules, as each teacher decides how to use the reading program with their current curriculum.

Hawkeye’s Bookworm prizes are provided by program sponsors: Applebee’s, Culver’s, Erbert & Gerbert’s, Forum Communications Printing and the RedHawks.

If you are a teacher or principal at a school and would like to sign up for
the program, fill out the online form
here. A member of the Bookworms Staff will be in touch as soon as possible.

If you are a parent and want to see if your school is in the program or
would like to encourage your student’s school to participate, please
contact your school administrator or child's teacher.
