RedHawks Use Big 7th and 8th Innings to Beat Laredo 10-4

06/05/2015 9:51 PM -

Fargo, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks fell behind early, but battled back and used huge offensive seventh and eigth innings to shut the door on the Laredo Lemurs. In front of a crowd of 3,638 electric fans, the RedHawks defeated Laredo by a final of 10-4 on Friday night.

Taylor Stanton started on the mound for Fargo-Moorhead and had a fantastic outing. Stanton earned the no-decision with a line of 6.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, and 6 SO. Stanton's three hits were the fewest he had scattered in a start this season.

Greg Holle started on the hill for Laredo. He went 6.1 innings, while allowing seven hits and three runs (all earned). The wheels fell off for Holle in the seventh, when he gave up a single to Michael Antonio and walked Joe Staley. Antonio would score on a fielder's choice from Zach Penprase and Staley would be driven in by a two RBI double from Mozingo that would also score Penprase.

The RedHawks opened the flood gates in the eighth inning. Laredo reliever Dan Minor faced a bases loaded jam with Zach Penprase at the plate and Penprase delivered with a bases clearing stand-up triple.

Mariel Checo allowed two runs in the ninth frame but they proved to be harmless. Mike Noteware (1-1) earned the win in relief for the RedHawks. Noteware came in and got one out in the seventh and two in the eighth, but he left the game with the lead. Lemurs starter Greg Holle took the loss for Laredo. He is now 0-3 this season.

The two teams return to Newman Outdoor Field tomorrow night for game two in the three-game series. Brandon Mann is set to take the mound for Fargo-Moorhead. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
