FARGO, ND --- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were held scoreless in a pitcher’s duel Wednesday night, losing to the Sioux Falls Canaries by a score of 2-0.
Tyler Alexander battled on the mound for the RedHawks throwing a season high 126 pitches in his seven innings of work. The Lefty fanned nine and walked two while giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits.
Fargo-Moorhead’s ace was outdueled by Grady Wood. The Sioux Falls starting pitcher had command of the strike zone the entire night, giving up two hits and walking none while striking out six in his eight innings of work.
The Canaries scored in the second on an RBI single by B.J. Guinn and added another run in the fifth.
Two was all the Canaries needed. The RedHawks threatened in the 9th when Devan Ahart jump started the crowd with a one out double. The starting left fielder advanced to third on a wild pitch before being stranded by a Jose Ortega strikeout of Josh Mazzola to complete the combined shutout.
