K.C. Drubs RedHawks; Teams Tied for 1st

08/11/2010 10:41 PM - One night after losing by a ten-run margin, the Kansas City T-Bones throttled the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 19-7 at a sold out Newman Outdoor Field and regained a share of first place atop the standings. The 25 hits the T-Bones put on the scoreboard are the both a franchise record and the most in a single game in the Northern League this season.
Kansas City (43-31) was all over Fargo-Moorhead pitching early, scoring nine runs in the first inning. RedHawks rookie starter Tyler Seaman (1-1) was only able to record one out before being sent to the showers. The righty didn’t help his own cause, allowing the first three T-Bones to reach base on a pair of walks and hitting another. Kansas City second baseman Jacob Blackwood capped the first with a grand slam, his 23rd home run of the season.
The T-Bones scored four more times in the fourth inning, two of those runs coming on back-to-back solo home runs from Brian Joynt and Dwayne White.
Blackwood had a huge night at the plate for Kansas City, going 4-for-6 with five RBI and two runs scored. Shortstop Jimmy Mojica was 4-for-5 with four RBI and also scored twice in the game for the T-Bones. Every Kansas City starter had at least two hits and eight different T-Bones recorded RBI.
Kansas City starting pitcher Kevin Light (3-0) tossed 6.0 innings, allowing four runs on just six hits. He also struck out four and walked three.
In his 0.1 innings of work, Fargo-Moorhead (42-29) starter Seaman allowed seven runs on four hits and issued two walks.
Catcher Kole Zimmerman was 2-for-4 on the night for the RedHawks and drove in four runs.
The two teams will wrap up their four-game series tomorrow afternoon starting at 12:30pm. Kansas City righty Cody McAllister (9-4, 4.38) is scheduled to meet Fargo-Moorhead southpaw Jake Laber (7-3, 3.79).
