The Fargo-Moorhead (6-8) jumped on the Sioux City (5-9) early on their way to an 8-5 win on Friday at Lewis & Clark Park, scoring five runs in the first inning.
New Fargo-Moorhead right fielder Buddy Sosnoskie was solid at the plate in his RedHawks debut. Sosnoskie went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, seventh, and ninth innings.
Alex Caldera's seven strikeouts were enough to push the Fargo-Moorhead past the Sioux City. Calder is now 3-0 in three starts this season after he allowed three earned runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings.
Brian Bistagne had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fourth and ninth innings.
Max Whieldon couldn't get it done on the bump for the Sioux City, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
RedHawks face the Explorers in Sioux City Saturday and Sunday before returning home for four games against the Kansas City T-Bones June 4-7 and three agains rival Winnipeg Goldeyes June 8-10 at Newman Outdoor Field.
