The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and Winnipeg Goldeyes meet for the first game of a three-game set Friday at 7:02 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks are back home following a three-game series in St. Paul, which saw the club drop its first series of the season since losing two of three against Gary from June 14-June 16.. The Goldeyes travel to Fargo-Moorhead for the second and final time of the 2013 season after winning three of four in Lincoln. Winnipeg is currently tied for second in the division and is 5.5 games back of Fargo-Moorhead for the division lead. RedHawks’ Danny Gutierrez is expected to make the start against Winnipeg’s Matthew Rusch.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes enter tonight’s game with a 37-33 record and are currently in tied for second place in the North Division standings. Rick Forney is in his eighth season as manager of Winnipeg. The RedHawks and Goldeyes meet for the third series between the two teams this season. In the prior two series’, Fargo-Moorhead swept Winnipeg in both, extending an eight-game regular season winning streak against the Goldeyes dating back to the end of the 2012 season. The RedHawks currently sit in first place in the North Division standings, while the Goldeyes are in third and are seven games back of the RedHawks. Currently, the RedHawks lead the all-time series 141-117. Both teams made the American Association playoffs last year and were pitted against each other in the first round. Winnipeg swept Fargo-Moorhead in three games and would go on to win their second club championship.

Harris Named Pitcher of Month
Joe Harris made some big appearances in July and was rewarded for his efforts. Harris was selected by the American Association as the Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for July. In July, Harris was a perfect 6-0 with a 1.69 ERA and three saves. He appeared in 14 of the RedHawks 27 games in the month. Harris pitched 21 1/3 innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on 16 hits. He struck out 19 batters and walked four.
Jackson Homers His Way up The List
Nic Jackson is having another big year and its showing in the box scores and the club’s all-time records list. With two home runs in the most recent homestand at Newman Outdoor Field, the Fargo-Moorhead outfielder sits at 59 home runs and is third in team history in the department. Jackson trails home-run leader Jesse Hoorelbeke who hit 65 during his time in Fargo-Moorhead, and Darryl Motley who hit 64 and is second on the all-time chart.
Piepkorn Returns to RedHawks
A familiar name will be seen at Newman Outdoor Field for the first time at home this season. Jeremiah Piepkorn returned to the Fargo-Moorhead lineup during the three-game series at St. Paul, the first time since 2010. Piepkorn played parts of three seasons for the RedHawks from 2008-2010. His biggest year came during the championship season of 2009. That year, Piepkorn played in 92 games and batted .339 with 19 home runs and 73 RBIs.
Crushing Goldeyes Pitching
The RedHawks’ lineup has hit the Goldeyes’ fifth-ranked pitching staff well in previous matchups. Ron Bourquin and C.J. Retherford both have over .400 batting averages against Winnipeg, while Zach Penprase, Todd Jennings and Keith Brachold are hitting over .300 in six games.
