FARGO, ND --- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks lost 6-2 to the Gary Southshore RailCats Saturday night.
Gary scored first on a solo home run by Colin Willis in the top of first before Tyler Alexander settled in. The lefty struck out 10 while giving up 3 runs (2 earned) in his 7 innings of work.
The RailCats scored their unearned run in the top of the seventh when Alexander sailed a pickoff attempt on Kris Goodman at first. Then the first baseman, Jesus Posso, committed another error trying to throw Goodman out at third, giving Gary a 3-0 lead.
The RedHawks were held scoreless by Gary’s starter, Alex Gunn until the bottom of the seventh when Yhoxian Medina plated two on a two-out RBI-double.
Gunn struck out 9, giving up 2 runs, 6 hits, and one walk in 6.2 innings of work before turning the ball over to Ryan Fritze, who struck out the one batter he faced.
The RailCats added two in the eighth and one in the ninth including a home run by Collin Harris.
Fargo-Moorhead failed to score off of Carlos Diaz who pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth, striking out 5 on his way to his first save of the season
