In an almost reverse script of last night's contest, Fargo-Moorhead fell to the Wingnuts at home on Tuesday night by a score of 10-1. This time it was Harrison Kain giving the 'Nuts early offense and Tim Brown stifling the RedHawk offense.
It all got started in the second inning when Matt Chavez cracked a double and Kain drove him in with his first triple of the game. He then scored his first of three runs on a Brennen Salgado sacrifice fly. In the third the road team piled on with four more runs. Kain knocked a bases clearing triple and scored on a throwing error to bring the lead all the way to 6-0 after his at-bat.
Another run was added in the fourth with Christian Stringer bringing Brent Dean home with a double. After that inning it was 7-0, just like how last night after three that was the score in favor of the 'Hawks. Brown kept it that way by limiting the home team to just seven hits and no walks in his eight innings. The lone run allowed was unearned in the eighth inning when Ryan Wagner's single scored Dustin Geiger.
Three more runs were put on in the top of the ninth to widen the margin even further for Wichita. Salgado's single brought in Chavez and Zack Cox, and Dean's single allowed Kain to score his third run of the night.
Brown (7-2) earned the win and Brian Ernst (1-3) took the loss. The series is now tied at a game a piece and the finale will be Wednesday, 7:02 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
