The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks announce the re-signing of pitcher Trey McNutt to the 2018 roster. A native of Birmingham, AL, McNutt was drafted out of Shelton State Community College (Tuscaloosa, AL) by the Chicago Cubs in the 32nd round of the 2009 MLB Amateur draft.
“We’re excited to have Trey back in a RedHawks uniform for 2018,” said RedHawks Manager Michael Schlact. “He has an electric arm with some of the best pure stuff in the entire league. He emerged as a leader on the pitching staff last year in part due to his work ethic and character, and we’re excited to see him after another great off-season of hard work. We feel that big things are on the horizon in 2018 for Trey.”
Last season with the RedHawks, McNutt appeared in 38 games, pitching 42.1 innings with 46 strikeouts. He finished with a record of 4-3 and also had four saves.
