HAWKS CRUSH DOGS TO CLINCH SERIES WIN

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, one night after an 11-0 shutout win, built on their momentum and beat the Chicago Dogs 17-5 in front of 2,698 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Tuesday night. The RedHawks scored nine runs in the first two innings and set a season high with 21 hits in the win. Gage Hinsz only allowed two runs despite giving up 11 hits to earn his third win of the season. The RedHawks improved to 5-3 against Chicago this season and 20-13 overall.

Correlle Prime, who came into the game batting .464/.516/.764 in his seven games against the Dogs, was 4-for-6 with two runs, a three-run home run, and five RBIs in the game. It was Prime’s second 5-RBI game of the season. Six Fargo-Moorhead batters, including Prime, had at least two hits, an RBI, and a run in the win. John Silviano hit a towering three-run home run in the second inning that just stayed fair down the third-base line. The home run was Silviano’s first since June 4th against Kane County. He still leads the RedHawks in home runs (7) despite the 17-game skid. Will Zimmerman was 2-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base, two walks, a hit-by-pitch, and four runs on Tuesday night.

Hinsz, who is now 3-2 with a 5.82 ERA, started his third game of the season against Chicago. He gave up 11 hits and two walks but left 10 Dogs on base in his 5.0 innings pitched. Mark Finkelnburg made his fifth relief appearance of the season in the sixth inning and gave up two runs on two hits in his 2.0 innings pitched. Austin Ver Steeg and Austin DuBord each pitched one inning to finish out the game.

Outfielder Anfernee Grier led the way for the Dogs with a five-hit game and hit his third home run of the season. Michael Crouse and Grant Kay also homered for Chicago and five batters had at least two hits in the game. Chicago scored in five different innings but did not score more than one run per inning.

Chicago starter Jordan Kipper only went 1.1 innings and got his second loss of the season after allowing nine runs on 11 hits. The Dogs used five pitchers in relief, none of whom pitched more than two innings, and the pitching staff combined to strike out only five batters in the game. Juan Echevarria and Justin Goossen-Brown were the only other Chicago pitchers to give up runs in the game.

The RedHawks and Dogs will conclude their series with a 7:02 p.m. game Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks are expected to start RHP Logan Nissen (1-2, 5.57 ERA) while the Dogs are expected to start RHP Garrett Christman (2-2, 7.57 ERA). Christman is 1-1 in his two starts this season against the RedHawks. Wednesday night’s game will feature mascot Bidrzerk! at Newman Outdoor Field, presented by Bell Bank.
