The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have re-signed LHP Jake Laber and LHP Matt Zoltak to contracts, the American Association club announced.
Laber, 24, was 11-4 with a 3.90 ERA in 21 games (19 starts) for the RedHawks in 2010. In 131.2 innings pitched, he allowed 63 runs (57 earned) on 140 hits. Laber struck out 75 batters and walked just 32 while establishing a career-best WHIP of 1.31.
Laber tied for the Northern League lead in victories, was 10th in ERA, tied for 2nd with three complete games and was fifth in innings pitched. The Fargo native and former North Dakota State University star was acquired prior to the 2010 season from the River City Rascals of the Frontier League.
Zoltak, 22, was 1-2 with a 7.02 ERA in four games (three starts) for the RedHawks in 2010. He struck out 15 batters in 16.2 innings pitched. Zoltak pitched collegiately at Clemson University and Florida Southern University.
