The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed 3B Brian Ruggiano and LHP Chris Siegfried to contracts, the American Association club announced today.
Ruggiano, 24, played for the Great Lakes Loons, the Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate in the Midwest League (A). He batted .255 with 24 doubles, five triples, six home runs and 48 RBI in 109 games. Ruggiano scored 50 runs and stole 15 bases for the Loons.
Ruggiano was originally selected by the Dodgers in the 23rd round of the 2008 draft out of Texas A&M University. In three professional seasons, he has batted .281 with 47 doubles, 14 triples, 17 home runs and 108 RBI in 215 games. Ruggiano has scored 135 runs and stole 46 bases while posting a career .352 on-base percentage.
Siegfried, 25, joins the RedHawks after spending four seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization. In 2010, he was 3-7 with a 4.26 ERA and one save in 46 games (four starts) for the Daytona Cubs of the Florida State League (A). Siegfried pitched 82.1 innings and allowed 41 runs (39 earned) on 74 hits. He struck out 77 batters, walked 34 and allowed just four home runs.
In his career, Siegfried is 13-19 with a 4.70 ERA in 133 games (19 starts). He has pitched 281.2 innings and allowed 165 runs (147 earned) on 287 hits. Siegfried has notched 215 strikeouts and walked 123 batters.
