RedHawks Win Eighth Straight At Home![]() FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (43-55) tallied their eighth straight win at home with a 9-3 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones (47-51) Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND. The RedHawks followed up last night’s season high attendance and dominating performance with the best impression they could muster. The eighth sellout of the year was registered thanks to an attendance of 4,565. On top of that, the RedHawks tied their season high for hits with 18 en route to a 9-3 win over the T-Bones.
Fargo-Moorhead is now winners of eight games in a row at Newman Outdoor Field. That ties them with Winnipeg for the longest home winning streak this season in the American Association. The RedHawks are 29-19 at home and have the chance to move as high as a tie for fourth place in the league for home record if they sweep Kansas City.
Zach Penprase provided the spark for the RedHawks once again. In typical fashion, Penprase started the game with a single and a stolen base. Then, he scored later in the first inning to give the RedHawks an early lead. Penprase seemed to follow that formula all day as he went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and three stolen bases.
The RedHawks performed well at the plate as a team for the second night in a row, putting up 18 total hits and only one player being held hitless. Carlo Cota had a two-run home run, and C.J. Retherford extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a pair of RBI doubles.
Kansas City mounted their only offense in the middle innings, scoring one run in the fourth inning and plating two runs on a Kala Ka’aihue home run in the fifth inning.
Jake Laber (10-7) picked up his tenth win on the season in his RedHawks single season record 21st start. Laber gave up three runs (two earned) over 5.2 innings while racking up eight strikeouts. Reid Santos (8-6) received the loss after allowing seven runs (all earned) on twelve hits in five innings of work.
Cota raised the bar for second baseman in the American Association by breaking the single season record for total chances. Cota has set the mark at 565 and will continue to raise that as he chases the single season records for assists and putouts.
The RedHawks will play the third game in their four-game series against the Kansas City T-Bones on Monday night. Game time is 7:02 pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 701-235-6161, online at www.fmredhawks.com, or at the Ticket Office during business hours.
