The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed RHP Chris Squires and C Cory Osborne, the club announced. Both players will be in Fargo when the RedHawks open training camp on May 4.
Squires, 25, joins the RedHawks after spending the past three seasons in the Miami Marlins organization. Last year, he split time between the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Florida State League (High-A) and the Jacksonville Suns of the Southern League (AA).
With Jupiter, Squires was 3-2 with a 2.60 ERA in 21 relief appearances. He allowed 17 runs (13 earned) on 36 hits in 45.0 innings pitched. Squires struck out 34 batters and walked 14. At Jacksonville, Squires was 0-1 with a 7.11 ERA and one save in ten appearances. He struck out 13 batters in 12.2 innings pitched.
Squires was originally selected by the Marlins in the 37th round of the 2010 draft out of Indiana University. He is 6-7 with a 3.73 ERA and two saves in 75 games. Squires has racked up 107 strikeouts in 128.0 innings pitched.
Osborne, 22, comes to the RedHawks after finishing his college career at Tiffin University, an NCAA Division II program in Ohio. In 2012, Osborne hit .246 with two doubles, one home run, nine RBIs and four runs scored in 57 at bats. In 2011, Osborne batted .281 with nine doubles, two home runs, 28 RBIs and 15 runs scored in 43 games.
