In game two of this Northern Division series, Fargo-Moorhead finally tied the game in the sixth inning, but some crucial errors cost the home team six runs in the seventh inning to give the Canaries a win on Wednesday night.
Tyler Alexander was the starter for the home team. He continued to be a strikeout machine, punching out nine on the night and ending up being one short of tying the American Association league leader. The southpaw did have a bumpy third inning however, Ozney Guillen drove in a run and then Jake Taylor brought two of his four RBIs on the night in with a triple to give the road team a 3-0 lead.
The RedHawks showed a little life on offense in the fourth, when Josh Mazzola scored on an RBI by Brian Humphries. They knotted the game up in the sixth when Mazzola continued his great play with a blast to right, scoring two.
As soon as the 'Hawks got right back into the game, a mammoth of an inning took them out of it. Six runs were scored, three of them being unearned thanks to two errors in the inning. Taylor knocked in two more runs and Ryan Lashley cleared loaded bases with a double. The sixth run came on a throwing error to home.
Alexander goes to 4-2 and Misael Siverio (3-3) picks up a win. The RedHawks (16-15) and Canaries (12-20) will play the series finale on Thursday, 12:30 p.m., at Newman Outdoor Field.
