FARGO, ND (8/26/17) --- It took extras to decide game two between the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and the Saint Paul Saints but the hometown team came through, thanks to an RBI double by Chris Grayson in the bottom of the eleventh to secure a 7-6 victory for the RedHawks.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead plating three in the first and one in the second off of Will Solomon. Leading the early surge was Brady Shoemaker who doubled and scored in the first before driving in Tim Colwell with a double in the second.
Those four runs were the only surrendered by Solomon in his 4.2 innings of work.
The RedHawks pen gave up just two runs in 6.2 innings of work.
For the second straight day Fargo-Moorhead benefited from two home runs. Keury De La Cruz knocked in two with a blast in the second to bring the game to a 3-2 score and KD Kang drove in two more with a shot in the fourth to give the RedHawks their first lead of the game.
Fargo-Moorhead scored six on St. Paul’s starter, Dustin Crenshaw.
Tyler Thompson pitched a scoreless eleventh before giving way to the clutch RedHawks’ offense. With two outs in the bottom of the eleventh, Yhoxian Medina singled and Chris Grayson doubled to score him from first.
What’s Next?: The RedHawks go for the sweep tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled 1:00 pm.
