REDHAWKS TOPPLE SALTDOGS 9-1
LINCOLN, NE – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks improved to 4-0 in exhibition play with a 9-1 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Friday afternoon. The RedHawks defeated Lincoln 6-2 on Thursday night.
Jon Gaston was the hitting star for Fargo-Moorhead, going 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and four RBIs. He was a triple short of hitting for the cycle. Aharon Eggleston had three hits for the RedHawks as well.
Aaron Shafer pitched 3.0 scoreless innings for Fargo-Moorhead, and Tony Butler, who pitched a scoreless fourth inning, picked up the victory.
In four pre-season games, the RedHawks pitching staff has allowed just four runs (three earned) on 18 hits in 36.0 innings pitched. The staff has struck out 37 batters, walked 12 and boasts a paltry 0.75 team ERA.
The RedHawks continue the exhibition schedule with a 5:00 p.m. game on Saturday night at York, NE against the Saltdogs before heading to Hinton, IA on Sunday for a 5:00 p.m. game against the Sioux City Explorers. Following off day on Monday, Fargo-Moorhead will face the Wichita Wingnuts at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita before bussing to El Paso for Opening Day on May 17.
