WHITE SOX PURCHASE CONTRACT OF JON GASTON
FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have sold the contract of Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks OF Jon Gaston has been sold to the Chicago White Sox. Gaston was signed by Fargo-Moorhead on April 12, 2012. Gaston will report to the Birmingham Barons of the Double-A Southern League.
Gaston played in six games for the RedHawks this season. He hit .385, with two home runs, two doubles and four RBI. The outfielder was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 7th round of the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft. Gaston spent four years in Houston’s farm system before coming to Fargo-Moorhead this season.
“This is a great opportunity for Jon to continue his career with the White Sox,” said RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic. “We knew he was a high-quality player that organizations would be interested in, so it’s no surprise that he’s moved on this quickly. We wish him the best of luck.”
Gaston is the 57th player the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have move back to a Major League Baseball organization.
