The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks are bringing back a veteran backstop for the 2013 season.
The RedHawks have re-signed C Todd Jennings to a contract, the club announced. Jennings is returning for his third season with Fargo-Moorhead.
Jennings, 31, batted .239 with ten doubles, three home runs, 38 RBIs and 42 runs scored in 92 games last season for the RedHawks. He backstopped the Fargo-Moorhead pitching staff to the top ERA in the American Association while catching in 84 games. Jennings posted a .992 fielding percentage.
Jennings is entering his 11th year of professional baseball in 2013. He was originally selected by the San Francisco Giants in the second round of the 2003 draft out of Long Beach (CA) State University. He advanced to the Triple-A level with the Giants before a series of injuries caused him to miss most of 2007 and 2008 and all of 2009.
“Todd is a great receiver and did a great job handling out pitching staff last season,” said RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic. “We feel comfortable with him behind the plate and are confident in the job he can do calling games and blocking balls.”
