The Series
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (51-29) return home following a three-game sweep of the T-Bones in Kansas City, and are set to face the Rockland Boulders (40-38) of the Can-Am League at 7:02 p.m. tonight at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks currently lead the Winnipeg Goldeyes by 8 1/2 games in the North Division standings, while the Boulders sit in second and are six games back of the Can-Am league-leading Quebec Capitales. The RedHawks are 8-2 against Can-Am league opponents this season, outscoring their opponents 79-25 in those 10 games. The RedHawks are expected to start Danny Gutierrez (0-1, 3.05), while the Boulders will counter with right-hander Bo Budkevics (0-3, 6.10).
The Opponent
Fargo-Moorhead and Rockland played for the first time at Newman Outdoor Field in 2012. The RedHawks swept the Boulders in three games by the scores of 7-3, 10-1 and 4-0. Paul Burnside, Aaron Shafer and Tyler Herron all picked up victories in the series, while current Rockland pitcher and former Fargo-Moorhead pitcher Kevin Fuqua earned a save.  The Rockland organization was formed in 2011 and plays its home games at Provident Bank Park. The club was named Organization of the Year for the Can-Am League in 2012. Based in Ponoma, N.Y., within Rockland County, their nickname refers to the large amount of boulders located in the region where the team is located.
The RedHawks radio home is The Fan 740 AM. Scott Miller serves as the voice of the RedHawks for his eighth season. Pregame starts 20 minutes before the scheduled first pitch. A free online stream of every Fargo-Moorhead home game is available at
Walk-Off Frenzy
In the last ten home games for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, four have been won on walk-off hits. Jeremiah Piepkorn has picked up the last two, hitting a walk-off grand slam against Winnipeg on Aug. 2 and a walk-off single against St. Paul on Aug. 6. Buddy Sosnoskie hit the first of the eight-game span off St. Paul with a two-run home run on July 25 and Mitch Einertson hit an RBI walk-off single July 28 against Sioux City.
Two-Run Madness
All three of the RedHawks’ victories in the recent three-game sweep of the Kansas City T-Bones were won by two runs. The sweep helped Fargo-Moorhead continue to hold on to an 8 1/2-game North Division lead, with the magic number now at 12 to clinch the dividision crown. Highlights of the series included Nic Jackson hitting his 60th home run as a RedHawk, Joe Harris picking up two saves, Brian Ernst earning his fourth win and five players picking up a multi-hit game on Aug. 10.
Brachold’s Hot Hitting
Keith Brachold has been one of Fargo-Moorhead’s top hitters in the last ten games. During that time, Brachold has went 16-for-38 (.421) with five runs scored and nine RBIs. His average has also improved from .275 to .294 during the 10 games, which is now the fourth best batting average on the team this season.
Wheelin’ and Dealin’
Taylor Stanton ranks among the league’s best among starting pitchers this season. His 2.32 ERA is best in the league among active starters and he ranks second in complete games with three. Stanton hasn’t lost a start since July 14, and in his last four starts he has not allowed more than three runs and has went at least six innings in each. Stanton is 3-0 and has given up five runs, while striking out 27 in the last four starts.
