FARGO — The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (42-38) earned a series split on Monday night, riding a strong pitching performance from Eric Chalus to a 7-1 win over the Sioux Falls Canaries (41-40) in front of 3,342 fans at Newman Outdoor Field.
Chalus led the charge for the RedHawks staff, earning the win with his second quality start of the season. He went 6.2 innings of one-run ball, striking out four batters and allowing just three hits and one walk.
Parker Harm tossed 1.1 innings in relief, striking out two and allowing one walk. Jon Beymer finished the game with a scoreless ninth.
Tucupita Marcano recorded four hits on the night, with a double and two RBIs. Matt Kroon clubbed two hits of his own, and Brian Fuentes smacked his seventh home run of the season in the sixth inning.
Sioux Falls’ only run came in the top of the first, when Josh Rehwaldt launched the first pitch he saw over the wall in right field.
Dillon Thomas quickly gave the RedHawks the lead in the bottom of the first, turning on a Chase Gearing fastball and ripping a three-run blast to right.
F-M added three more runs in the fifth, then tacked on another run in the seventh for good measure.
After the seven-game homestand, the RedHawks remain in third place in the American Association’s West Division. They sit three games behind first place Kansas City and 2.5 games behind second place Winnipeg. They are 1.5 games ahead of Sioux Falls and four games clear of fifth-place Sioux City.
The RedHawks now head on their penultimate road trip of the 2026 campaign, visiting Sioux City and Lincoln for three games each.
The RedHawks return home for the final homestand of the season on Tuesday, August 25. They begin with the Sioux Falls Canaries, before facing the Milwaukee Milkmen and wrapping up with the Winnipeg Goldeyes. First pitch on Tuesday, August 25 is set for 7:02 p.m.
