Fargo-Moorhead drops Sunday contest to Sioux Falls

FARGO — The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks dropped Game 3 of their four-game series against the Sioux Falls Canaries (41-39) 13-4 on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.
The RedHawks now sit at 41-38, 3.5 games back of the West Division leader Kansas City Monarchs. They are half a game ahead of fourth place Sioux Falls, and 3.5 games ahead of fifth place Sioux City.
Matt Kroon and Eric Filia both had three-hit days for Fargo-Moorhead. Jesus Lujano had two hits and worked two walks.
Tripp Clark entered the game in the second inning and went 2-for-3 with an RBI. He increased his batting average to .352, which ranks second among all qualified batters in the American Association.
The RedHawks pitching staff combined for 13 total strikeouts. Justin Lopez, Mason Pelio and Tyler Jeans all tossed scoreless innings in relief for F-M.
The RedHawks will go for a split in the series finale against the Canaries on Monday. First pitch at Newman Outdoor Field is set for 7:02 p.m. Monday night is Dollar Dog Night at the ballpark, with $1 hot dogs available all game long.
