Milkmen complete sweep of RedHawks
FARGO — The Milwaukee Milkmen (56-37) used 16 hits to complete a 10-6 win and a three-game sweep of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in front of 2,972 fans on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.
Five different Milkmen batters had multi-hit days, including three hits apiece for Alec Olund and Griffin Doersching. Matt Givin earned the win for Milwaukee, tossing 2.1 innings in relief, striking out three batters and allowing just one hit.
Edinson Batista tossed five innings in relief for F-M, allowing one run on three hits and striking out five batters. Jon Beymer tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
Tripp Clark went 3-for-4 at the plate, raising his batting average to .370. That mark sits atop the AAPB among all qualified batters.
Juan Fernandez went 1-for-3 with a walk, driving in three runs on a 372-foot home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jose Sermo, Aidan Byrne, and Jesus Lujano all drove in a run as well.
The RedHawks fall to 48-44, though still sit in third place in the West Division. They sit 2.5 games ahead of fourth place Sioux Falls and three games behind second place Winnipeg.
The RedHawks have an off day on Monday, before returning to Newman Outdoor Field on Tuesday to begin a four-game set against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
Game 1 on Tuesday is a make-up from a suspended game on June 15 and will resume in the fourth inning at 6 p.m. Game 2 will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1.
