RedHawks come up just short, season ends in WDCS

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — After falling behind 6-0 early, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks clawed almost all the way back before falling 10-9 to the Kansas City Monarchs in the deciding Game 5 of the West Division Championship Saturday night at Legends Field. 

 

The two teams combined for seven homers, with Fargo-Moorhead getting bombs from Jose Sermo, Matt Kroon and Tucupita Marcano. 

 

Marcano’s two-run shot in the ninth made it a one-run ballgame, but the RedHawks could not manage the tying run. 

 

Kansas City will play Milwaukee in the Miles Wolff Cup Finals beginning Monday. 

 

With the loss, the RedHawks season comes to an end after going 53-47 in the regular season and advancing to the Division Championship Series for the sixth time in the last seven full seasons.
